About the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
University of Newcastle

The University of Newcastle prides itself on producing self confident, well equipped, “job ready” graduates. Our degree programs focus on both academic and professional training as exemplified in our Bachelor of Engineering degree.

The Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) program provides a strong grounding in mathematics, physics and electrical engineering fundamentals. In the final two years of the program students can elect to specialise in electrical power engineering. Power electives include courses in electrical machines, power systems, power electronics, control theory and advanced drives. All courses are supported with a comprehensive laboratory component to provide students with practical hands on experience.

The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science has research strength in the power engineering field that is recognised both nationally and intdernationally. The School maintains strong links with industry with several industry related projects currently in progress. Final year students have opportunities to participate in these projects by considering aspects of them as part of their final year project.
